Yeah, I saw that just a little while ago. Caught me off-guard, because Whitney played over 20 mins last night and took his turn in the shootout. Whatever he was playing through must have worsened after the game.

By the way, I really did not like the way Smith pretty much showed up former teammate Whitney -- a player deserving of respect even if he HADN'T been in Phoenix -- on that save in the shootout.

I know what Smith did was aimed more at the Dallas bench and hostile crowd than to disrespect Whitney. But it was a showboat move to hold it aloft and casually toss it away with such an exaggerated motion like that when he easily gloved Whitney's shot.I suspect that it kind of ticked off the Stars, too.

Seeing as how Lehtonen stopped the next two cold and Benn and Jagr scored in succession directly thereafter, it backfired on Smith.

It is some kind of foot injury that he sustained a few games ago. I remember Gulutzan saying that he didn't know how Whitney was playing when he could barely walk. I agree that it must have significantly worsened after the game.

Since Reilly Smith was recalled, I assume he will replace Whitney on the 2nd line.
